How To Maximize Every Gym Experience

“Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.”

- Ralph Waldo

What would it look like if you make the most of every workout? How would you be different?

Men know how to turn on the intensity. I discovered how intensity combined with focus equals “POWER.”

Listen up, I believe these ingredients empower many areas of our lives; during exercise, working out at the gym and so on.

For example, when living on campus as a full time student, people are given the option to participate in on campus sports.

Since I am a football junkie, I needed to play flag football.

I prepared for games like my life depended on it. I couldn’t even concentrate during class, I know, I was taking flag football to serious.

By now you all think I’m crazy. No surprises, people standing along the sidelines also believed I was nuts.

Intensity is often misunderstood. “Why does he act like that?” Like what? oh, you mean, why I Play the game with passion, fire and with everything in me!

Intensity enables me to compete and focus without limits; intensity equals my best.

How To: Maximize The Gym Experience

1. Know Your Workout Routine Ahead Of Time

Remember, in my last post when I was talking about having a plan? Enough said.

2. Carry A Notebook With You

I found this necessary, especially when I wanted to keep track of my progress. A little notepad is a plus and will make a difference.

3. MP3 Player

Blocking out distraction is something you must learn to do. Headphones prevent you from hearing conversions. It also says to those around you, “I’m focused and please don’t bother me.”

4. Avoid Making Eye Contact

You have goals and it should be all business, not a social event. Again, we’re wanting to MAXIMIZE our workouts and time. It is your time, commit to making the most of it.

5. Carry A Water Bottle

It saves time to refill the bottle, instead of running to the locker room or to wait in line for a drink. Stay on task!

6. Use Your Intensity

Increased performance! Enough said.

7. Eat Before Your Workout

Everyone is different, I like to eat a small snack before intense weight lifting. Fuel up on the right carbs for your best performance.

8. Eat After Your Workout

Muscles grow after being broken down and allowed to recover, not during the workout. Proteins are essential for this process.

9. Workout Partner

Avoid injury, a helping hand for support is necessary. Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of having a spotter; with help you will increase strength, safety and motivation.

What else might be added to this list?
